Meet the Nurses

 

Chris Aday, MSN, RNC, NP

As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Chris joined RSC in 2001  She has several years of experience in reproductive medicine and works closely with the physicians to provide continuity of care to RSC patients. Her primary role in the Egg Donor Program is to perform the medical screening of egg donors, gestational carriers and intended parents. She also provides care to infertility patients by performing ultrasound monitoring and assessment, intrauterine inseminations, history and physical examinations, diagnostic procedures and provides education about infertility testing and treatment.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Jose Sate University in San Jose, CA and completed her Family Nurse Practitioner program and received her Master of Science in Nursing from theUniversity of California, San Francisco in 1997.

Ivonne Aldana, M.A., IVF coordinator

Ivonne received her associate’s degree as a medical assistant from Silicon Valley College in Fremont, California in 2003. She began her career as an OB/GYN medical assistant at Castro Valley Women's Health where she worked from 2000 until 2004 when she joined RSC. In January, 2007 Ivonne was appointed IVF Coordinator at RSC’s Orinda clinic. She is fluent in Spanish.

Carol Borgatta, R.N., B.S., IVF nurse case manager

Carol received her B.S. in Nursing with Honors from San Diego State in 1975. Since then she has served in numerous nursing and management roles at large medical centers such as Mt. Diablo Hospital Medical Center in Concord and Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, as well as private centers such as Cardiac Consultants Medical Group in Danville, San Ramon Nuclear Diagnostic Center, Addus Healthcare and Premier Health Connection in Walnut Creek. Carol’s nursing expertise encompasses critical care, diabetes, cardiac, asthma and low back pain care. She joined RSC in 2005 and is based in San Ramon.

Susan Hatheway, R.N., donor program manager

Susan’s career as a nurse began in 1981. She entered the field of infertility nursing in 1991 and joined RSC in 1997 as operating room supervisor. She currently manages RSC’s donor program, coordinating donor and recipient cycles from initial screening through embryo transfer. Susan is based in RSC’s San Ramon clinic.

Sheryl Lipari, L.V.N., clinical operations manager

Sherry has served as a licensed vocational nurse since 1988. During the first 18 years of her career she served as nephrology practice manager and nurse case manager for dialysis and kidney transplant patients. She joined RSC as a nurse case manager supervisor and conducted RSC’s IVF patient education classes. Sherry is currently RSC’s clinical operations manager and is based in the San Ramon clinic.

Judi Mecchella, C.M.A. IVF coordinator

Judy graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1988. She spent the first seven years of her nursing career in pediatrics. Her love for children inspired her to help couples achieve their dreams of having a family. In 1989 Judy served as IVF coordinator for Dr. Sgarlata, before they both joined RSC in 2005. Judy is also trained in ultrasound  and is based in RSC’s San Jose clinic.

Karen Stevens, RN CNOR, operating room and regulatory operations manager

Karen has spent the last 21 of her 34 years as a Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Surgery Arena.  While an Administrator for a Surgery Center for 13 years prior to her arrival at RSC,  she maintained her skills as a  Certified  Nurse of the Operating Room and continued to be active as a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.   She received an Associate Degree of Nursing from Arizona Western College. 

Her main focus at RSC is to provide excellence in care to patients and family during their surgical experience.  She also is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance at the Center.
